Traditional rankings in the legal industry have evaluated law firms against their peers across a variety of categories, with financial performance as the top-ranked metric. Those rankings are nearly obsolete by the time they are released and rarely accurately measure a law firm’s health, stability, and success using key self-reported financial data.

Since 2020, the Leopard Law Firm Index has been providing legal leaders with an invaluable tool for measuring law firm growth and stability. Having real-time data analytics and analysis that look beyond financials has never been more important, especially in the current volatile economic times.

Every law firm that SurePoint Legal Insights tracks, currently over 5,800, is listed on the Leopard Law Firm Index. Each firm receives a score from 0 to 500, with 500 being the highest possible score.

There are four distinct statuses in the scoring system:

  • 0 to 124 – Poor
  • 125 to 249 – Fair
  • 250 to 374 – Good
  • 375 to 500 – Very Good

These are the firms that most consistently finished in the top 10 in 2022:

  1. Kirkland & Ellis LLP
  2. Greenberg Traurig LLP
  3. Latham & Watkins LLP
  4. Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP
  5. Goodwin
  6. Holland & Knight LLP
  7. Ropes & Gray LLP
